Diamond Tiara and Silver spoon. Do two names in MLP bring up more hatred them theirs? Sure Discord bent the world to his twisted whims and Nightmare Moon tried to destroy all plant life by bringing eternal night, but these two are really mean! They’re immediately more relatable as antagonists because we’ve all probably dealt with people like this before who just like to mess with us for whatever reason they can come up with. That being said, is there something about these characters to make them redeemable? Should we, as fans, hold a mirror up to ourselves whenever we start hating on these two? Who out there is ready to do some crusading? Will I get my Cutie Mark in writing? I sure as hell hope not. If this is supposed to be my super special talent, then that says a lot about how bad I am at most things. Anyway, the Cutie Mark Crusaders are pretty much the B team for the series. Whenever we aren’t focusing on the Mane 6 or Spike, these ponies take the forefront and have given us some really great episodes.

Cheerilee and Berry Punch. Wouldn’t these two be perfect for a 90’s style sitcom? The earnest sister with a frustrating job and the snarky sister with a drinking problem. WACKEYNESS ENSUES!! All kidding aside, there’s something about these two that makes them very endearing despite how little we know about Cheerilee from canon, and how one dimensional the portrayal of Berry Punch has been in fan made content.

We’re finally getting to one of the Mane 6. Just so you know, I’m not doing all of them at once. I’m gonna spread them out, and do each character as I see fit. For now let’s focus on this week’s topic, the one and only Pinkie Pie! Personally, I think that, despite the show not always knowing what to do with her, there is so much depth that can be minded from this unique equine, and it makes her one of the more compelling characters to discuss.

As if the title of this column wasn’t suggestive enough, I follow up my debut post with Equestria’s number one lesbian couple. It seems strange that one of the first things that the fans picked up on was these two background ponies standing close to each other, and then deciding they were in a sexual relationship. Well, that’s one of the side effects of having an adult male fan base who loves posting on the internet. As dismissive as that sounds, I feel it’s one of the more interesting memes to come out of the fandom because despite the more ‘obvious’ reason that some of us enjoy this pairing, it’s a great example of how the themes that the show has been trying to impart on its audience can be represented in unconventional ways, at least in terms of what’s usually associated with children’s television. Trixie Lulamoon, the show mare who captured the fandom’s heart. Next to Luna, she’s probably the most popular character in the show. So what is it that makes this character tick, and why do we all love her so? Let’s start with a little background. In the original version of Boast Busters, she was supposed to be a male unicorn, but during development the character was given significant changes by writer Chris Savino until she became the pompous magician we now know. She’s voiced by veteran voice actress Kathleen Barr whose done work on countless animated series. Her most notable roles are probably Dot Matrix from Reboot, Kevin from Ed, Edd, n Eddy, and Marie Kanker from the same show.
