Living on Netflix: Ever After High (Episode 2)

EAH(2)0

Haven’t read Part 1?  Check it out here!

The second episode is called “Chapter 1”.  The reason why is because it contains all the remaining webisodes from the first season (chapter 1).  Most of these are much shorter than the three part story from the first episode, so there’s probably gonna be a lot of shenanigans without much plot development.

Living on Netflix: Ever After High (Episode 1)

EAH(1)0

We all know about Monster High right?  Someone had the bright idea to take Universal Monsters and turn them into a line of highly profitable dolls.  Naturally this led to a bunch of knockoffs, one of which being Ever After High which is basically the same premise only with slightly less murder in their back stories.  So if this is just a rip off of someone else’s idea, why am I bothering to give this the light of day?  The reason why is because Netflix picked it up and is making a movie followed by a season of episodes to be released on its service.  Seriously!?  What exactly do they see in this property?  Well there are currently three episodes on Netflix (made before the deal), so let’s take a look at each one of them in our very first three-part series!!

Living on Netflix: American Mary

AM0

This is going to be an interesting one.  A horror movie that isn’t found footage!?  A horror movie that’s not a sequel or remake!?  A horror movie with a plot and characters!?  No wonder this only got a limited theatrical release.  American Mary is the second film by the Soska twins whose prior film was a student project called “Dead Hooker in a Trunk” so that might give us a clue of what we’re in for with this one.  Is their sophomore effort any good?  Keep reading to find out!

Living on Netflix: Escape from Tomorrow

ET0

One of the biggest oddities of 2013 is this independent film that was shot inside Disney World (and Disney Land) without anyone from Disney knowing about it.  What was made from that footage is supposed to be one of the most bizarre and inflammatory films to ever try and get one over on the Mouse House.  I’ve been waiting to see this movie for a long time, and I’m SO glad that Netflix picked it up.  Is it any good?  Read on to find out!

Living on Netflix: Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil

HT0

Everyone likes Hoodwinked, right?  It was clever, unexpected, and looked pretty good considering how astoundingly low its budget was.  It was a real sleeper hit that ended up grossing over one hundred million dollars at the box office (factoring in international as well as domestic).  So naturally, a sequel was planned… that came out five years later.  Not only that, but it was a terrible piece of garbage according to critics.  Well hell, I’m sure you guys like to see me in pain, so why don’t we give this one a shot?
